Hi there Friend.

If I were to have you here next to me. And we were to talk about the ups and downs of marriage. The good, bad and in between. This is what I would want to tell you that is all boils down to a lot of the time. NOT always, but often.

Don't boss your man!

Easy, right?

What about when you need him to do this and that and the other? How do you ask?

What about when you are expecting company and have a long list of things that need to be done, NOW?!

Shall we go on?

I find it true that often we women thing we know best when it comes to how to wash the baby, how to dress the kids, how to fix the meals, how to do whatever it is we do so well.

But if you start bossing your man he will turn tail and run (and do his own thing-his way), and let you do it on your own.

So dear friend- DON'T boss your man!

Warm weather has finally arrived here in the North. And to celebrate I have been hard at work with lots bright floral scarves. 

A scarf is a women's best friend anytime, but now if you don't have one you really must have one. It is an easy way to accessorize any outfit. It is like getting a new piece of jewelry or clothing all in one.

 

You can use it as a necklace,, headband, belt and more!

When a loved one hurts

My heart hurts for someone so dear to me.

I had no idea of the pain she was going through. No idea of the difficulties.

I feel stunned.

I feel confused.

I feel disappointed.

I don't understand why evil corrupts so. I like to believe in a better world. Yet the darkness seems so strong at times.

In all of this I know that God is victor. I know that HE is in charge. I know that HE will overcome.

These past days have been strange times.

Full of shocking stories and strange happenings.

I find my rest in Him!

Summer Skirts- In Silk

I am excited to share with you today the first of what I hope to be many silk pieces you will find in my shop in the future.

I have wanted to make silk clothing accessible for everyone. There are so many reasons to love silk, some of which are these:

- silk is the most natural of fabrics (for a Mama of a girl with extreme eczema this is SOMETHING).
-silk is extremely durable (remember parachutes were made of silk) .
-silk though cool as if wearing nothing in summer is warm in winter.
-silk makes you feel special. The caress of it on your skin is just amazing.

This is the first silk skirt that I have made in order to start experimenting in the world of hand painted silk clothing. I made this one for a friend of mine for a special birthday of hers.

First I stretched the silk in my huge frame, hand drew the designs and painted it with French dyes. The background is also done entirely with a one inch brush :)

Then it was steamed for 3 hours.

Then it was rinsed to get any reside out to avoid coloring in future washes.

Then it was ironed and sewn.

I loved painting it and making it and hope my friend knows how special she is when she wears this luxurious silk skirt. Perhaps one day I will have a photo to share of her here of her wearing it :)

Looking forward to painting many other designs in the months to come :)

My Baby's Two

Two years have passed since the joyous entrance of our youngest into this world. 

His birth was the one that made me excited. The one that convinced me that water-births are so much easier than normal births. (His birth story).

This little boy of mine, who loves to climb, push buttons and make car sounds.

Silk Scarves for Girls

Most little girls are crazy about princesses. My four year old is. So in honor of little girls and to go with the "rage" I have painted two scarves with the theme of  Frozen.
 

 

Would your little girl wear a silk scarf? Mine does, and she loves it. She also keeps "ordering" new ones, telling me which princesses I still need to paint.

My Man

A couple weeks back my man turned 40.

It seems with all the planning meeting everyone who wanted to greet the birthday boy we celebrated 2 weeks with at least 7 cakes.

I loved planning how to make his birthday special, which this year meant a scavenger hunt with 20 clues. It was fun surprising him, and celebrating with him.

But I want to thank God right now for this man he has given me. Here are some things I appreciate about you- no special order.

You are the most patient man I know. 

I love your dimples. 

I love that you can fix anything, wow! 

I love that you play with our kids. 

Your creativity and know-how amaze me.

I love so many things, and could list 40 here . . . 

but most of all I love you! 

Happy Birthday Mom

Today is my Mom's birthday.

I am thankful for you Mom and the immense time and sacrifice you invested in the lives of us, your four kids.

I am grateful for how you chose to give up career and your "life" to teach us at home, choosing a path you see as it right and sticking it to it is something to be admired.

I am honored to call you Mom and you can be proud of yourself for having taught us 4 at home and that we have gone on to graduate well in higher education. Well done!

I love your hugs and miss you combing out my hair and braiding it.
