Funny, how much one small section of books amongst a ton of other books can bring so much joy to the beholder.
I've always loved books and libraries. I miss the libraries of America. But am thankful for the fun, new books I am finding here too- in Latvian.
I enjoy choosing books at the children's library for my kids. Yesterday as I was searching for books I stumbled across a section of kid's books in English. I had never even bothered asking if there were any, simply assuming there would not be.
Needless to stay I was more than a little excited and happy to be able to check out, "Green Eggs and Ham" and a few other books to read to my kids in English.
I still wish I could get beginner English books for my little boy who is learning to read- but am thankful for this pleasant little surprise.
We will enjoy reading every good book in English that they have, and who knows, maybe we can even share a few of ours as the kids outgrow them.
What is brightening your day today?

Pleasure
Pleasure is the compliment of a job well done,
the joy in the creation or sharing of a talent,
the satisfaction in a glimpse or word of praise for something I created with love.
Pleasure is the softness of a baby soft cheek next to mine,
two soft sweet hands,
and the heavenly aroma of a dear sweet babe.
Pleasure is the pride and glow of a word first recognized,
a word formed with faltering hand,
and the accomplishment in knowing I was the teacher of my sweet child.
Pleasure is the calm of a beautiful day,
the warmth of the first rays of spring sunshine,
and the scent of a damp earth welcoming the new life of spring.
Pleasure is the contentment of a long evening,
listening to the stories and songs of little voices,
bound with love in the security of family.
Pleasure is the nearness of ones we love,
the warmth of a long embrace,
and the kiss given in love.
Pleasure is the security of future,
the promise of hope, life and nearness,
in the arms and home of the Living God.

Bagels
Yesterday in all my baking flurry I suddenly wanted bagels. I know that I had subconsciously been wanting them for some time. Every time I purchase cream cheese I wish I had a bagel.
I decided that since my oven was hot I would make bagels too- they are quite fast and easy.
I coated them with sesame seeds, and some of them have garlic on them. They are so very delicious.
Funny how something so simple can make a person so very happy. Somehow bagels remind me of home and my family and especially my Dad. He likes bagels too. My husband has no memories or fond associations of bagels. He doesn't even care for them that much.
Bagels also remind me of my college days. On the rare occasion that we would make a run to the grocery store we would often stop for a bagel. I loved eating warm EVERYTHING bagels with garden vegetable cream cheese.
